Can this be a sign of autism?
My 3 year old stepson is very quit and bearly talks much. He just recently started doing every little noise and movement that any other kid does. Most of the time when you call his name he just stares at you. And when you ask him a question the times he does answer he just nods his head.

Is this a sign of autism?
There is a child that I think has autism. She shows all of the correct mental signs of it. But she also has very low body temperature. Once it got so low as 95 degrees. Is there possibly any link between her body temp and autism?? I've been researching online and so far all the websites only emphasis on mental signs but I'm sure there must be some physical symptoms, as well.

Could this be a sign of autism?
I first realized I do this when I was about 5 and received strange looks from my parents When immersed in music and or exciting thoughts, I can't help but rock back and forth doesn't happen as much when I'm standing and... flail my hands facepalm . I've managed to knock things over, hurt my hand, and I always annoy the family when they hear chairs creaking from downstairs as I listen to music. Notes that should be considered I am female and 13, have done this for at least 8 years, I excel in school Almost straight A 's doing the bare minimum work and in the gifted program , have no particularly negative social habits As in I have plenty of friends and get along fine with others , and I'm ridiculously clumsy. I wouldn't even really consider autism if it weren't for the fact it's so... UNNATURAL. That being said, I've looked into aspergers, but I'm plenty social. Could this be something else, if not a form of autism...?Sorry, apparently being concerned about autism is " lololol" worthy, so let's just say I'm wondering if it means anything, not just autism. I'm quite serious, considering I have to go in my room and hide from people so they don't call me a freak, so I don't think it's very funny. I can stop myself, but then I'm uncomfortable and the thought isn't as clear. I hate doing it. I just want an answer.

If nodding of the head in toddlers a sign of autism?

Are these early signs of autism?
My 13 month old son is showing some of the familiar signs of autism, but only a couple. I can't really tell if he is independent, not getting enough social practice or developing signs of autism. He doesn't hold eye contact long and often doesn't want to have anything to do with his parents, but when out in the world, he seems interested in the other people. He plays fine with his toys and doesn't seem to favor anything specifically. He doesn't make gestures, but then again, we haven't really used gestures around him so I don't think hes learned. He doesn't make any signs as to what he wants though when he does want things. He has been smiling and babbling since a a young age and his motor skills are up to par. He's been walking on his own for a few months now.He also doesn't really like to cuddle, but it's almost as if he has some place else to be or explore. He often throws tantrums and throws himself on the floor repeatably. Every now and then he will do a call and response kind of thing where we mimic his words but to be honest, we haven't done that very often with him not nearly as much as we shouldThe most worrisome thing to me is that he rarely responds to his name but I have a suspicion he just doesn't care. Is that a possibility? We've already made a doctors appointment, but I'm just looking for some parents views on this to get myself better prepared. Thanks

What are the signs of Autism?
Ive been seeing a counseller for 6 months for social anxiety and depression and she said i could possily have autism, but didnt really explain what autism wasI dont appear or behave in a way an autistic person does, i appear quite normal but maybe my brain works in the same way as an autistic person? i know my perception isnt great, i missread situations i always think everything that happens is targeted at me and me only, and it winds me up inside but i never show anger when im around people, i can only let it out when im on my own and this is one reason im not very sociable as anger just builds up inside and it can be frustrating when i cant let it outcan someone shed some light on how an autistic persons mind works and maybe give some examples ?

Are these signs of autism?
I know it's very early to tell but I feel that my 6 month old so is showing some early signs of autism. I'm asking any mothers who have children with autism to respond. He does something with mainly his right arm where he extends his arm then pulls it back, almost as if he is pointing over and over again. It seems involuntary. He also stiffens his arms and opens and closes his hands when he is excited about something. He grunts the entire time he is eating solid food. His eye contact is erratic and he doesn't answer to his name the majority of the time. The only thing that will guarantee him looking at me is when I sing. He is fascinated with music.Sometimes I will even turn his head to try to get him to look at me and he will fight me because he is refusing to look at me. Earlier today i clapped behind his head, which made a very loud noise and he didn't even flinch. We have had his hearing tested so we know he can hear. He has hit all of the developmental milestones at normal times. Rolled over at 2 1 2 months, sat at 5 months, is now trying to crawl. He laughs at funny noises or my dogs playing, he babbles and coos. But the other things concern me. Any information from mothers or doctors would be helpful.

What are the signs of Autism in a teenager?
I seriously think I have Autism at times. I don't know why,but I seem " different" from everyone else at my high school and I constantly have a feeling like people are staring at me because something is highly wrong with me and I'm " off" in a way.I'm really shy and I don't really talk much. very quiet I'm afraid to ask questions in class because I don't want people to think I'm stupid.I don't have that many friends, never had. For a couple of years in elementary school I had no friends at all and mainly spent recess alone.I pluck my hair when I'm bored. i know it's a really bad and weird habit, but I can't stop. I do it without thinking.I have really good grades except for Algebra II and Journalism Mainly because I'm too afraid to talk to people .I'm really clumsy and awkward.I don't make eye contact because I get tired of people staring at me when I make eye contact iwth time.I'm 17 and never had a relationship. My guidence counsoler told my parents I have " social issues" my freshman year. A few weeks later she tried to talk to me and she was talking all slowly like I couldn't understand her and I bsaid. " Not to be rude, but can you stop addressing me so slowly as If I'm stupid?" She never talked to me again and called my parents to tell me I'm antisocial.Do I sound autistic to you?

Does my 20 months old show signs of autism?
Our 20 month old has a vocabulary of 20 to 30 words. I know that seems odd that we don't know exactly how many words he knows or uses but it changes frequently. We put it around 20 to 30 words. He often does repeat the same tasks like take cars or blocks from a box then shaking them within just about three inches in front of his face, then he will throw it down or drop it look at whoever is there and says uh oh. After that he returns to the box and does this again and again. The thing is, if I stack the blocks or put the cars back he doesn't really care I can take the blocks away or hide them. That doesn't seem to bother him at all. He also constantly opens and closes cabinet doors and drawers. But once again you can stop him from this he might cry for a little bit but will almost always continue on to the next thing he can find. I know repeatative behaviors are a sign of ASD but he also puts things in the cabinets and drawers, like sippy cups, toys, and sometimes things from other drawers. He only does that at our house, but at his grandparents house he just opens and closes them. He never puts anything in there. His eye contact is lacking but hasn't really changed since he was really little. He makes eye contact and sometimes stares at you, but if he is busy running around or playing you cannot get him to give you more than a glance. He doesn't really respond to his name he may look at you sometimes but doesnt seem interested. On the opposite of that he will run from any room if you ask him for a kiss or make kissy noises. He loves elmo, mickey mouse, and anything with music it seems. If there is music in a commercial on tv you can't get his attention. You can change the channel and he doesn't care or pick him up and stuff. He will sit still only for tv shows like mickey mouse or elmo. But if those shows aren't on he doesn't really care about tv until like the iphone commercial comes on. It is kinda off cute he will stop doing whatever he was doing for that 15 to 30 seconds and then returns to whatever it was he was doing. As far as social interaction with other children he isn't terribly interested. I really think the social interaction thing might be my fault I am a stay at home dad so he doesn't get out of the house alot. He is our first child and the first grandchild. He is the center of my parents world. They are the ones who brought this to our attention. The thing is I know early intervention can change everything if he has something wrong with him. We know that because he has already a major surgery when he was 8 months old for Saggital Craniosynostosis. For you that don't know what that is, his soft spot closed too early and forced his head to grow like a football instead of a circle. That surgery went well, but we do worry that it might have set him back alittle bit. He has lost some words but we also stopped saying them. I just want answers and this seemed like a good idea.
