Do all kids with autism have a dummy?
a friend of mine has autism and has a dummy, hes 12 now and the only time he hasnt gat a dummy is when hes out side or at school, he even has one for his nose which he rubbs over and over agian and also smells it, he sometimes takes them to school with him and keeps them in his bag.is it ok for ALL autistic kids to have a dummy till a old age?what do you think about it?and why does he have it?and if he loses it of gets broken he has a giant tantrum till its the way it was befor or if he gets a new one...

Does Casein Free and Gluten Free diet really help kids with autism?
My son is 4 years old and have mild autism spectrum disorder. He do have eye contact and talk to people. But his speech is not at par with kids his age,. He is also insensitive to pain, have no sense of danger and obsessed with things that rotates like fan and wheels. In class he only concentrated on things he is interested in. Things he dont like he just ignore and walk out of the class.

Does the dairy free, gluten free, sugar free diet work for kids with autism?

I'm looking into this a little more, but feel that I might have a little problem with this, my son's favorite foods are chicken nuggets and mac n cheese. He's very sensitive to certain textures, like fruits and vegetables so this diet might be hard, just wanted to see if anyone has tried it and want to know if they've noticed any results.

i have aspergers syndrome, and my husband doesnt have it. i was wondering if anyone knows a website i can look up to find out if it's a bad idea and selfish to bring up a child with it, or if i have a chance they wont have it. if you have suggestions, id be happy to hear it. i just dont want my children to go through the same things i suffered. Why do so many people discriminate against kids with autism?
For example, when a child that is autistic suddenly has a " meltdown" because of the frustration they have of not being able to understand and communicate with others, people look and stare at them as if it is their own fault or the parents'. When in reality it is not. In some cases they are kicked out of places and it is very difficult for the parents to go out ANYWHERE. The parents DO try to prepare the kids in advanced and they try to deal with them the best they can when they have their " meltdowns" in public. So why can't people understand?

Stainless Steel dental crown on a kid with autism?
My son who is 3 and a half had a General Anesthesia to get some dental work done. He got one tooth pulled because apparently the cavity and infection was too deep and the dentist put a space maintainer in it's place , and on his other tooth he put a crown. Have to admit I was pretty surpriced when I saw that it's grey crown, but he explained that no one makes white crowns for kids? .... anyway..job's already done, but I am so worried that this stainless steel may be bad for my child that is still non verbal and shows signs and characteristics of Autism, we'll get a dignose in a week . Some time ago it was recommended that a blood test to be done to see the levels of heavy metals in him, so I don't know if this crown and the space maintainer being both from stainless steel and of course being non stop in his mouth, will be bad for him?? I'm so so worried. The dentist also said that the fillings he did were from white material, but since the crown is only one type he doesn't have much of a choice..Please advise Cicely thank you for your answer But just to let you know there is a BIG relationship between autism and the presence of heavy metals. Or at least that's something that must be ruled out as a precense in the body, and that's why must be tested along with gastrointestinal check. Some parents even chose to have their autistic children undergo a Chelation therapy, is the administration of chelating agents to remove heavy metals from the body. For the most common forms of heavy metal intoxication those involving lead, arsenic or mercury. In some cases that shows improvement in children's behaviour, of course as long as the gluten free and casein free diet.

Kid with autism in class, is starting to piss me off ?!?
Most of you will say I'm ungrateful, & he's different etc..But this is what has happened in the last two weeks & I am getting PISSED OFF He ALWAYS disrupts the class, practically impossible foranyone to learn. Today he tackled me onto the ground, pulling my hair, for no reason I accidentally stepped on his shoes inside & he started crying& pushed me against a coat hook, now I have this huge bump on myhead. Spit food into my mouth at lunch time . During lunch, he went into my desk & RIPPED UP my homework.While my teacher said I need to take better care of my stuffso I GOT DETENTION . I finished my essay which took me AT LEAST 4 days to finish & HE CLOSES THE WINDOW & DOESN'T SAVE IT Throws stuff at me ALL THE TIME Swears at me CONSTANTLY.THIS HAPPENED TODAY HE TRIED TO STAB ME WITH A SCISSORS CAUSE I TOLD HIMTO TALK A BIT LOWER
