Whos more intelligent, a person with Aspergers syndrome, or a person with high functioning autism?

What is the difference between autism and aspergers and low and high functioning autism?

Is this really high functioning autism?
Since a little girl she has trouble making friends, other kids find her weirdShe's pretty hyper & does little violent things to other girls like pinch them, push them down cement stairs when teased by one, & choked a class mate. She didn't understand it wasn't right but after seeing the other child's tearful & scared reaction she realized she did wrong & said she wanted to stop. Teachers kept calling for parent teachers conferences & my wife would hit & scream at my daughter each time. My daughter would then hide in closet or under the bed for hours, sometimes running coat hangers over her wrists. I know my wife provokes my daughter's already off behavior. She almost failed kindergarten & had trouble learning to read & write until taught one on one. Now, as a teen, my daughter, has turned within. She said she has depression & anxiety trying to imitate the other " normal" kid & not act naturally because its off from other kids & brings negative attention. She is now an introvert. She seems to repeat same song lines or sayings a lot, writing goals and time schedules over & over, she seems obsessed with numbers like if the clock is 11 11 or 12 12 or 4 44 or 12 34 etc. She is also very sensitive to tastes & sounds & if she is upset or hyper focused on some obsession, she can't stand us touching her, hugging her. She spins sometimes when upsets or waves both hands when over excited. When bringing her to a fair with all booths, she brain freezes & needs walk around quietly before she can interact.Around strong paint smells she feels violent & anxious & must be removed. She hears little noises we don't hear. Loud noises hurt her ears I mean she's especially sensitive to toilet seats slamming down or cabinet doors being slammed or radiator going on & off or device that emits high pitch to keep bugs away .If she sees unexpected reflection & bright light in mirror, she once in awhile screams at her own reflection. I guess she's jumpy at times when over excited. She also has trouble making eye contact. She can fake it to come across as " normal" but if they excessively look in her eyes too long, she gets anxious, over stimulated & leaves.Other than that she is kind of normal, introverted. The dr says she has high functioning autism. Is the dr right? What else could this be?I know my daughter isn't faking it & that it deeply upsets her.I do notice, after eating processed foods, she is very hyper. Also she was severely deficient in vitamin D.My daughter often stays her own room, her own world. She feels safe their, with routine. She can't seem to handle a job & new people & pressure.I can tell she envies " normal" people who can socialize & laugh & play & make small talk, which she has a lot of trouble doing with people, after " hi." Thanks so far for the answers Yes, I down played the wife. She was pretty psycho on the kids, going after with loaded shotgun, hiding them behind the door and setting fire but she is not in treatment but the doctors didn't say she was autistic. I just thought my wife had psycho tempter but my kid was a little off since a baby. My wife didn't touch kids much or say I love you, it isn't her Japanese way she said.Anyways, wife is in treatment & on some meds. I just want daughter heal in natural way, am going to try alkalize, cleanse of heavy metals from amalgams, vaccinations & processed foods & some other supplements calm her.I mean wife IS in treatment now.But wife got delusional & heard voices, came about in her 60s.My kid in teens now, never had psychotic break or heard voices. I think wife's not touching & some abusive behavior & toxic world & maybe genes made her mild autistic.

Is medication necessary for adults who are diagnosed with high functioning autism?
In a world where everyone is diagnosed with something, unfortunately I have been labed Bipolar and ADHD as an adult, even though the symptoms did not quite fit. Upon starting college, behaviors and ways of learning seemed to give way to a new diagnosis which replaced the others . Is this something that can be harnessed to be a positive force in one's life, or is medication pushed on people who are diagnosed with this form of autism? If so, why?

How often can Asperger's syndrome (high functioning autism) go undiagnosed into adulthood?
For example someone who has problem with social interaction and faces extreme isolation cause of such. Also mild speech impediments. As well as oversensitivity of the senses feel of tags on back, sound of pencil on paper cause extreme discomfort . Someone who also eat the same thing everyday, prepared in similar ways. As well as narrow focused interests such as 1960s history. Oh and a mind good with remembering numbers like dates or stats. My brother was just diagnosed as such at age 23, is this common or rare? Why was overlook for so long?

How do they test you when you suspect you have asperger syndrome (high functioning autism) in adults?
I have had my suspicions for a while but especially recently after reading a book with a person suffering asperger syndrome. A lot of his quirks were similar to mine, except mine weren't as severe. Except in high school where I stopped talking to almost everyone, by 15 I was barely acknowledging the teachers Due mostly to anxiety, started to improve after leaving school, but due to poor social skills and total disinterest in social situations it was 4 years til I got a cleaning job So I was thinking about getting tested and am anxious about it and was wondering what tests they'd use?

Is it normal for people with high functioning autism / aspergers to ask"strange questions"?

What is a good way to tell my 13 yr old newly diagnosed with high functioning autism of his condition.?
want to explain autism to my son without freaking him out or upsetting him.

My son is almost 13 and has high functioning autism, lately I have noticed that?
he had hickeys up and down his arms. Strange but not to alarming. Last night I noticed on the upper part of his arm that he had a bite mark that had bruised. He did this, should I be concerned? Is this an early sign of self injury. I am scared please help.

My boyfriend has high-functioning autism, what i can do to help him?
i couldn't even tell he was autistic....i don't care that he is....i want to know how i can help him...for whatever reason i'm the only one who he can look directly in the eyes...i use this to my advantage so he'll talk to me...i let him take as long as he needs...it take hours sometimes but i think once he talks to someone it really helps him...but i want to know if there is more i can do...so i shouldn't force him to talk to me?maybe force was to strong of a word...i don t force him...i more persuade him to talk to me.

Non-verbal Learning disorder, Asperger's or High functioning autism?
I have been researching AS, NLD and HFA for nearly a year constantly now, and I have read all about them and taken every Aspie quiz going. The one on wrongplanet.net autism site said AS score 154 200 NT score 39 200, so I took it from there and decided to carefully self diagnose. But if I am to self diagnose, I am not sure what to go with...as all three conditions are very similar... this is why I learned to walk and talk VERY earlyI have an IQ of 84Its not so much that I love routine, Its my hate of any CHANGE in my life.I love maths, but I literally can't do itI have no co ordination at allI have friends only for convenience, and wouldn't mind if I had to go it aloneI am either very childish or very matureI am either totally silent or a complete motor mouthtaking those into consideration, i am not sure now of what i should consider myself. I mean, i know i have ONE of them... i just dont know what one ?Any help opinions advice on my situation, or is anyone in the same position?By the way, please put your sources in, as i wont consider your answer very valid if you have no experience with Autistic spectrum conditions.thanks x

High functioning Autism/Aspergers?
I was diagnosed with it last year, but I was just wondering if it's possible to grow out of it? Can being around normal people who don't have the disability help me improve my social skills?

Question about high-functioning autism/asperger?
Both my sons were said to have many red flags of autism yesterday. They are 2 and a half and 4. I was told that if they were dignoased with autism, it is a very very mild case, one where in school they wont need extra assistance.. but they might get the label of a child with bad behaviour because of their inability to follow instruction well. The woman who was watching for the red flags said they wouldnt make eye contact with her. Do kids with autism not make eye contact with anyone? Because they always make eye contact with family. She was a stranger to them. They do undoubedly echo things and have one sided conversations and my older son flaps his arms when he is excited, but they are the most social kids I have ever met. They will go to anyone and talk talk talk. I can't even find anyone online who speaks of their child with autism being social. It makes me wonder if they really could have it.She suspects very mild asperger because of their high intelligence I think anways, she kept bringing up high intelligence. Since I've never heard of this before, I'm just looking to get some more info on this, and if its possible for a child to be so social and have autism. I've looked up Asperper but I have trouble finding a lot of things my childred have typical of it.
