First, to my knowledge there is no connection between being born a few weeks early and autism. Second, women do not decide when they'll go into labor. The body with all its various feedbacks makes that decision. I am autistic and was also born about 3 weeks early. My two sisters were born early too, one 6 weeks and the other 3-4 weeks and neither of them are autistic. Autism is genetic. I have read though that there may also be some connection between oxygen deprivation and autism though I don't remember when this oxygen deprivation associated with autism occurs. I think during birth. Your mother is no more to blame than is your father, grand parents, and great grand parents... There is no one and nothing to "blame ". Genetic roll of the dice. |
