Is it possible to be autistic without being diagnosed or warned?
I was reading about Aspergers syndrome and every single situation I can name a time when the EXACT same things happened to me. Failure to do small things.Excelling in reading and everyone thought I was gifted because I read upside down.Every single thought that I read I have felt.Is there a way to get this checked outI always shut doors and open them and have to touch it in a certain way so it feels right.I have to touch things in certain ways to make them feel right.Of course I am not social and I don't understand sarcasm at all.
My nephew is four and autistic and doesn't get disciplined or redirected is this normal?
My nephew is four and autistic and doesn't get disciplined or redirected is this normal? My brother and I had a slight argument regarding this the other night. My brother has lived out of town for years and decided to move back recently, he is here now and his wife and kids will be here next week.Basically he was walking through my house telling me things his child would get into, he then told me his son would bang and beat on my tv screen and basically he is not going to do anything to stop him and I better not either. He said that is one thing that makes him happy. Is that normal? Am I being insensitive because I asked if I could pick him up to redirect him? He got mad and left when I asked that.
If I have asperger's syndrome, am I autistic?
I understand the difference between high functioning autistic and asperger's, and I know asperger's is on the autistic spectrum but would I call myself autistic?Wow Smitty, for someone with " 28 years experience in neuro psychiatry" you're very ignorant. I am an aspie, and people on the autistic spectrum aren't simple, we're more than capable of intelligent dialogue.Perhaps before making such ignorant and instulting comments you should take the time to learn about autism and aspergers. autism.org.uk
Do you think I'm autistic?
Me and my sister recently took an online test to see how far along the autism spectrum each of us are This is a link to the page containing the test wired.com wired archive 9.12 aqtest.html . Firstly, she tested herself and she had a score of fourteen and then I tested and had a score of thirty nine, my sister seemed pretty surprised by this. Because my sister is currently doing a degree in Child Development she has fair knowledge on the topic of autism spectrum disorder. After I received my result of the test, she told me that she thought I was perhaps somewhere on the spectrum, perhaps higher than the average person. For the past year or so my sister has been helping with how I'm meant to be talking to people. People often tell me that I'm quite rude about some things which I find to be perfectly understandable and reasonable although I begin to see the offensive side once ithas been made clear to me. I insist that I'm not autistic because I thought people with ASD have a natural understanding of numbers and mathematics, but I'm pretty terrible but I'm very passionate about the English language. Oh and another thing, if someone has been in my room I automatically know because of changes in my personal space, and I have an obsession with books reading them and arranging them into all sorts of different orders. I'm not saying it would bother me if I was autistic, and that online test isn't even an official diagnosis, but I'm just curious do you think I am autisitic?
I need a diet for my autistic sister?
My sister is 23 and she's really overweight... my parents and I have been trying to get her to eat better for years, but her favorite thing in the world is pasta and it's difficult to deny her that. But she's so beautiful, and people don't see that because they only see the autism and the fact that she's heavy. Does anyone have any helpful dieting suggestions?
What are the chances of my son being autistic?
Autism is very much common place in my family. My younger brother is autistic, and my older brother and mum has treats. All sorts of other relatives on my side of the family have autism or and ADHD.My partner has mild ADHD.I am currently 24 weeks pregnant and wonder if my son is likely to be autistic too?
Massage Therapy for severely autistic son?
My sixteen year old has been responding really well to massage therapy. After a session, he really relaxes. He gets a professional massage about once a week, but strangely, he seems to like MY massages better he's more relaxed when I give him a massage while we're on the couch, rather than his professional massage therapist who takes care of him, usually. He seems to like scalp, shoulder, and neck massages best. Since he prefers my massages, I was wondering, are there any massage techniques I can use that may help him? Any special oils for massage? Also, could you suggest some alternative calming techniques that I can use on him? Thanks
