How does youth autism spectrum disorder relate to growth and development?
How does the effectiveness of medications and behavior treatment relate to words like growth and development, social, cognition, aggression, etc? I cannot think of a relation and was wondering if someone could give me some ideas.That would be greatly appreciated
Do I have autism spectrum?
For years I've been trying to figure out why I flap my hands. I do it when I'm excited. I've been doing it since I can remember. I'm 20 years old and I still do it only when no one is around. I've always had a problem with making friends and being social. Most of the time I just enjoyed being alone. And no I'm not like super smart in like playing instruments, math, etc. How can I stop flapping my hands? I just get so excited sometimes and I just enjoy doing it. It's kind of like a relief when I do it.I just want to add that I started talking at a real young age. Before I turned 1 year old . I was just quiet around people who were not my family.

wow what i'm going to ask is going to sound kinda lousy but here goes. My brother was diagnosed a year and a half ago just before he turned 5 and i love him so much, don't get me wrong. Since his diagnosis he's improved so much it's amazing. HE started school and he can now count up to five which is a huge improvement. But i still don't really know what ASD is, i don't want to ask anyone in my family because i guess they just assume i know. If someone could just explain this to me i'd really appreciate it
Should I consider that my 2 year may have autism spectrum disorder?
My younger brother has Aspergers. My 6 yr. old son has been diagnosed with PDD NOS. I have noticed for quite some time now that 2 year old stimms very similar to the way that his 6 yr. old brother stims. For example when I change his diaper and he looks at the light on the ceiling he stims. His body movements become rigid. He is in another world.I cannot agree with anyone suggesting that he is copying his older brother. You cannot sincerely imitate that kind of feeling. Otherwise his development is a little delayed for his age. I have not had him evaluated for anything yet. I have discussed this with his doc. and he just looked at me like I was crazy. Am I really that far off for thinking that this might be a possibility?

I am a Physical Education teacher at an Elementary school. I have a student in the Kindergarten that was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. When i first saw this little boy i thought he has Austim, because he would just wonder around the gym,wouldn't talk to anybody, and would be by himself. My aide hit him one time but not hard because he was running back and forth on the bleachers while his class was sitting down in line.Then he started to cry. I took his class outside, he started walk off so i had to go get him and bring him back. he was just crying. so the grandmother of his class took him back to the classroom, he was crying and saying he wanted to go back. He told his teacher that he was going home. he stayed closed to the school.But once i got to know him Austim has never crossed my mind again. He a very smart little boy,he has a good vocabulary.He talks to me and he now interacts with other children, but sometime he plays by himself. In PE he wrestle and hits other children. But, Most if all the boys in class do it. Today, I got an IEP on him, and he was diagnosed with autism spectrum, It say that he doesn't respond to hugs and praises. And he doesn't give eye contact. But, i don't see that all. He always gives me hugs and tell me bye when he leaves PE or when i leave at the end of the day. He hold conversations with me and give me eye contact. From talking to him and being around him for almost a year, it doesn't seems like his has autism. It just seem like he just spoiled. He is a sweet little boy. His mother his concerned with his behavior, he told his mother that he hears voices in his head that tells him to do bad things. He said the voice he hears screams loud in his ear and he has to cover his ears to make it feel better. When i read that on his IEP i was really concern. I was really concerned. i was thinking it was schizophrenia. I called my mother and she said it maybe be a bad spirit. He connects to me because he probably feel a calming spirit about me. I am really concerned. I want to help. I need Answers. Can somebody help. I don't know why i so attached to this child. I felt an connection when i first got to know him

tend to copy other people? you know how someone tries to be like someone, are people on the spectrum known to do that a lot?
Can People with autism spectrum disorder live on their own?
I would like to know this because I have a ASD and I was wondering if I could live on my own. from what I have heard most people with ASD live in a group home and they need support. But I don't need that relay so I was wondering if I might need It. I am 16 guy and concerned about Independence.
